This one I made for my husbands friend's girlfriend. Baby Lucy was due in a week and I had thought to make a quilt just big enough to use in the car seat and something that could later be hung on her wall as decoration cause you know how us girls like decor! lol When Lucy was too old to use the quilt I gave her mother, Kristal, some quilt hangers that matched. Hope she keeps it for when Lucy has little ones of her own...
I made this quilt for the son of another friend of my husbands, Mark. He was turning 4 or 5, I can't remember but I did write the date and his age on the quilt label. Mark's favorite movie was Cars and he loved ANYTHING that had to do with the movie. His father is also a dirtbiker and they spend a lot of time around the sprint car race track, so I went with a checkerd flag theme with Cars prints. The back was a collage of Dirtbikers doing stunts. Perfect size for the couch and as one of my co-workers said "it's the PERFECT blanket for a teenage guy to keep in his car to snuggle under". Marks mother told me later that he was sleeping under it every night.=:)
I made this one for the same friend. Her little girl, Suzanna, was turning 1 so I made her a big lap quilt that she can use for years to come. I thought to go with a simple girly theme as her mother likes pink and little girl things. You can't quite see it in this photo, but the light blocks are also 9 patch squares, just with light pink and cream. I thought the contrast from dark colors and light was eye popping and I just LOVED the Amish stars. If you look close you'll see a modified "Around the World" pattern, from the center block out. Hope Suzanna likes it as she gets older. =)
One of my coworkers had a little girl, Reagan, who was turning 1. I was sneeky and had a friend/fellow co-worker give me the extra fabric that they used for the curtains in her room, it was the orange print. Karla liked the new contemporay prints and when she was pregnant she went with bold colors because they didn't know what they were having. Surprises are fun and this one blew Karla away because she had no idea that I was making her little girl a quilt. When I brought it into work to give it to her, Karla started bawling and couldn't stop hugging me thank you and saying that she hadn't found any blanket that she liked for Reagan. I'm told Reagan drags it everywhere around the house. =)

I hope I am not the mom who didn't say "Thank You!" Both my kids love their quilts and sleep with them every night and if they happened to drag them out in the living room and forget them, they are both sure to remind me they need it at bedtime. =) THANK YOU!
Thank you for telling me how much the kids love their blankets!! It warms my heart to hear that people like what I put time and love into. Oh and don't worry about being the mom who didn't say thank you, it wasn't you. =) But thanks for saying it again!! =)
