Sad News

So tonight I just learned that the "BeWitching Hour" that was scheduled at Ben Franklin for this comming Saturday was cancelled.  The upper people just hadn't gotten around to informing anyone.  I for one are really bummed.  I got really excited when they paid me the honor of comming up with something for their event, and then took the time and made the demos; then I bought the actual materials and made more demos so that my Blog would have a look a like container.

Trying to stay positive, but having a hard time lately with some of the politics.  Oh well, they were fun to make and I have already passed along the directions to acouple people for their kids to make this Spooky Season.  I know everything happens for a reason, guess we'll just have to see what this reason was...

Halloween Workshop

Good Morning everyone!!!!  Hope you all were able to sleep with that rain pounding over head.  When I look outside today, it looks like a picture perfect fall day, well atleast a normal Pacific Northwest fall day.  So I thought what better time to announce an up comming event....

Next Saturday,  October 27th,  from  1-5pm  I am making my house open and inviting everyone who wanted to make all those cute little Halloween Treat containers I made for Ben Franklin, but couldn't make any of the classes.  So, to try and get people over to make some because they are SUPER cute,  the cost is $15 per set of 6 (yes ALL candy is still included, and this time ALL materials are included).  It only takes 2 hours per kit, but I made the day 4 hours long for those of you who want to make both or need alittle bigger time table.  If you can't make that day or those times and still want to make some, PLEASE just call/email me and we will get it figured out.  I just LOVE helping others craft and bring their creativity together!!  I am requesting RSVP just so I can make sure that there's enough kits.  You need to specify which kit you want to make OR both!!! =)

Halloween Bags-
2 cellophane, 2 pillowboxes, 2 paper bags
Halloween Vials and Wraps-
(There has been change, you will be making the two INDIVIDUAL vial holders, and NOT the dual one.  ALSO you will be making a Mummy container int his group.)

Come socialize and make some super cute containers for Halloween.  Light food and refreshment provided.  Hope to see you there!!!

Thanksgiving Cards '12

Okay so I know that I'm doin like a Blog Marathon, but I'm trying to get caught up.  This post is about the 8 Thanks Giving Cards I made just last week!  I know, I've been a busy bee especially when you think I'm chasing around an infant; but Cody is great and loves watching me craft.  I sooooo lucked out!!! =)

So here are the cards I made.  Didn't make any for a specific person, just started with some paper, twine and stamps and went to work.  I think they turned out great.  Which one is your favorite??

Green plaid.  All those paper's were little scrap pieces and I played with them to see what I could do.   It turned out okay, but definitly not my favorite.

Black Leaf.  I played around this some Smooch that I bought at Ben Franklin.  It looked like a chocolate brown in the tube, but when it was sprayed was a copper tan.  As you can tell it kinda globbed up when I sprayed it; guess I should of prayed it outside first.  You can't see the silver leafs I stamped on the white cardstock first because of the spray pattern.... Darn.

Green Leaf Gemstones.  I thought the card was a little tooooooo plain with just the orange poka dots, so I stamped acouple green leaves and then added acouple blings.  It was..... okay I guess, but I definitly liked the buttons!

The True Meaning.  I like the simplicity of this card.  Not a lot going on, but hte layers are nice and the little bit of black glitter paper was a nice touch.  I had it left over from my project at Ben Franklin.

Black Swag.  This was the first one I did and it kept bothering me that it was missing something.  So once I was done with all the rest I added some Sicklets to park of the black stamp and BAM.  Much better.

Thanks.  This one hast to be one of my two favorites.  I really like the color play and the simplicity.

Button Thanks.  Love the fall colors on this one and all the different layers and textures.

Green Thanks Giving.  This one is my other favorite.  I don't know why.  Maybe it's because of the green and red color play or maybe the simple sheer brown ribbon, but I really like this one.

So which one is your favorite???

Thinking of Grandpa Missel

So we have been alittle distracted the last couple of weeks because Christopher's Grandfather has been very ill.  He has Lukemia and I think his body is just tired of fighting (he has been it for over 10 years) and now it's starting to shut down.  It has been a very hard time for everyone and for Chris and Me we've been in a huge dilema on what to do because his Grandfather lives in Nebraska and has yet to see Cody.  We were planning on going in the early spring because of funds, but we really want Grandpa to meet Cody.  So it's been a bit of a whirl-wind.

So since we are MILES away I wanted to send him a card to just let him know we are thinking of him and that he's ALWAYS in our thoughts and prayers.  I hauled out a new stamp set I got and went to work.  I think this one was perfect for Grandpa because it's manly, simple and about aviation; which Grandpa loves to read about.  What do you guys think about it??

We LOVE you and MISS you soooooooo much Grandpa!!!

Stampin Up Party

Hidy Ho!!!!  So as most of you know I hosted a Stampin Up Party acouple weeks ago and it was a lot of fun.  We made 2 projects and I went with a Christmas theme because I wanted them to make something that they could give away, as most the people I invited aren't really into paper crafting for all occasions.  We made a 3D ornament and a Christmas card.  So without further ado here they are.......

The ornament was alittle time consuming but I think it was worth it!!!

Something fun that could be used on a present, hanging on the tree or even placed in the middle of a wreath.  Love the idea!

This was the card we made.  The Demo one was a little different, but I think that was the fun of it because EVERYONE made one alittle different.  How cute is that?!

Birthday Hat

Hi everyone!!! I know that I have been away for awhile, but I'm back and this is gonna be a loco day.  To start off the posts I have the photos I took of the hat I knitted for Christophers birthday.  I loved the finished product, but probably mostly because I am making one in the opposite colors for Cody.  Gotta have Daddy and Cody lookin alike you know.  lol  =)

Isn't he soooooo handsome in his hat???? Well the hat only adds to his handsomeness... =)

I think it turned out quite well.  Only took me acouple hours AND it matches his jacket!!

October Classes

So as some of you know, I am one of the scrap booking instructors at the local Ben Franklin Crafts store here in Monroe.  This month I am teaching Scrap booking 101, Halloween Candy Wrappers and Vials, Halloween Treat Bags, Halloween Candy Garland AND something new............ (I'll tell you at the end of the blog).

Halloween Candy Bar Wrappers and Candy Vial Holder AND Halloween Treat Bags.  These are two SEPARATE classes that are being offered for JUST October.  All materials included, that means candy too!!  Walk away with 6 finished projects per class AND all the templates to go with them.  Let's scare up some treats!!

Halloween Candy Garland.  You will make in this 1 hour class a 9ft candy garland.  This is a really fast project and you can make the length as long as you like by adding more sections.  What project isn't complete without snacking along the way? ;)

This is ONE of the TWO page layout for the Scrap booking 101 being offered this month.  You guessed it it's a Pumpkin Patch theme.  The other page not displayed has twine and clothes pins to help display those pictures.  All the white portions you see are the photos that you insert at a later time.  This is great because you don't have to have the photos prior to creation!

AND for something that's reallllllllllllly cool.  Ben Franklin asked me to make a Make-N-Take for their Special Event "Witching Hour", that's Saturday October 20th from 6pm-11pm.  This is the adults section as all the kid make-n-takes are from 11am-3pm.  Anyways they asked me to make a couple Halloween Treat Containers for the Make-N-Take and TEACH them that night! Yay!!!!  So here they are.....

Aren't they just the cutest?!?!?!?!?!?!  The Tall one has double sided pockets that are the PERFECT size to hold a single Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and the other candy holder holds TWO snack size Snickers or Milky Way candies perfectly!  Come play with us that night and walk away with these two cute holders!!!

Busy Card Month

Okay so I know that I've been realllllllllllly bad and not been posting like I should.  But I have a handful of cards that I put together last week that I'll share.  September is a busy month for us because it's my dad's birthday, my birthday, Chris's birthday, his grandma's birthday (and her twin), my twin cousins birthdays and 4 of our friends birthday's.  So I went and got a clump of them done quick.  So here's some....

This was made for my wonderful husband.  He turned 30 this year, so it was a big mile stone.  To celebrate it, I threw him a party that only included friends and his immediate family.  It was really nice I had been putting it together for 2 months.  I made the meal to go with all things he liked or either went well with beer, because for his 30th I thought I'd bring out the "Man's Drink".  He loved it and had a great time with those who came.  I loved the simplicity of this card and the outdoor theme for him.  Happy Birthday Honey!!!

This was my least favorite card that I made.  I put this together because my mother has a co-worker who has been kind enough to give us all the baby boy clothes that her grandson has grown out of.  At last count there was 7 bags and more coming as he gets bigger.  To say thank you to her, I wanted to make her a card.  Because she doesn't have to do that, and it really helps us out.  Thanks Karen!!!

I made this card for Chris's grandmother, Jean.  She's turning 80 and the family is throwing her and her twin a big party to celebrate it.  She doesn't want any gifts, but I thought a card was a must.  Hope she likes it.  Happy Birthday Grandma Jean!

This is for Jean's twin, Joan.  I have only met Joan 4 times, but you haft to have a card for such a big milestone.  Happy Birthday Joan!

This is Chris's sisters, Jessica, birthday card.  Her birthday is in the beginning of Oct, but I just had to put this together.  She owns a horse and I thought it'd be cute to make a card that incorporated her "horse side".  I used pink bakers twin on the inside down low with a bow to add a little more cuteness.  I LOVE the stitching on the edges of the pink background piece of paper.  I love her!  Happy Birthday Jessica!!

Christopher and I met a local photographer in town, just a couple weeks ago when we booked our fall photo session.  Her name is Kayla and she was 39 weeks pregnant with her first.  We got to chit chatting while there and we really liked her.  After leaving I told Chris I wanted to bring her a meal for when her son was born, because I know for me, when my mother in-law brought over a couple of meals it was the greatest thing.  Soooo I made a card to welcome little Blake home.  The photo down below includes the tag I made that wraps around the tubaware container containing Chicken Enchiladas, all ready cooked, just need to be rewarmed when ready to eat.  Welcome to the world Blake!!!!!

Scrapbooking Teacher!!!!

For those of you who don't know, I am now teaching in BOTH the Bead department AND the Scrapbooking department at the Local Ben Franklin.  Yayyyyyyyyyyy!  Some of the new classes are as follows...

Scrapbooking 101-  Where each month there's a different theme and you will learn and make a new 2 page layout.  ALL materials are included in the prise except for adhesives and scissors.  For many of us, we don't have time to sit and scrapbook all the little moments in a year, BUT for just ONE 2 hour class a month you can have ONE FULL YEAR of memories done, just like that!  Also this is a GREAT gift for someone who isn't really craft savy or for grandmother's, because all the work is done and they get to do the fun part of dropping in their favorite photos.  Come join me for one of the two classes offered each month.

Halloween Treat Bags-  There is actually 2 DIFFERENT Halloween Treat Bag classes.  In each you will make 6 different containers and learn many different techniques from Distressing, making Lollies, playing with ribbon, stamping and basic layering.  You ALSO walk away with ALL the TEMPLATES for future projects.  Each is a 2 hour class.  Offered September AND October.  ALL materials included, INCLUDING all candy.  You bring adhesives and scissors.  This is a great, fun class to learn a few different candy/ gift packages that you can turn into different themes later.  The possibilies are endless.

Halloween Candy Garland-  Have little ones at home that want to help with decor, or just love having fun colors around?  This is a REALLY cute candy garland that goes together fast.  You can make it as long as you like AND you get to "snack" along the way...  Offered during the month of October.  All materials included.

Thanksgiving Hostess/ Table Gifts-  You will make 6 different containers with ALL the embelishing to make your Thanksgiving dinner table so welcoming and fun OR to say Thank You to the Hostess who put together the wonderful meal.  This will be offered in November.  All materials included.  Come relax and craft in this 2 hour class.

Christmas Tags-  There will be TWO DIFFERENT classes offered.  In each you will make 8 Christmas Gift Tags and learn different technizues in each, from Glubing, Stamping, Distressing, playing with Buttons, 3D, Lollies, placing photos and layering.  One Series will be offered in November, so you can get your Christmas Tags done BEFORE the Christmas Rush.  The other Series will be offered in December.  All materials included in this 2 hour class.

PHOTOS TO COME OF THE OTHER PROJECTS.....
